The idea of this workshop was to introduce the TTD (trash the dress) concept into Lithuanian wedding photography. It was a 3 day event: 2 days we were shooting in Vilnius (the capital) old town and Lithuanian countryside and the 3rd day was devoted to the work review and discussion.
There were 6 models and 4 photographers.
Here are some shots I took during this event:)
First of all introducing our beautiful brides:
Day 1: Vilnius Old Town (Uzupis)
June 13, 2008
Uzupis is partially located in the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its name means “on the other side of a river”; that river is the Vilnia River which gave Vilnius its name. The region has been popular with artists for some time, and is often compared with Montmartre in Paris. The district houses art galleries, artists’ workshops, and popular cafés. The district declared itself an independent republic (the Republic of Uzupis) in 1997.
Until Lithuania’s declaration of independence in 1990, it was one of the most neglected areas in the city, containing many run-down houses, many without utilities. The region has been a common haunt of artists and bohemians since Soviet times, and even today many young artists are squatting in abandoned buildings near the Vilnia river.
Day 2: Lithuanian Countryside
June 14, 2008
There are a lot of villages that still have the traditional Lithuanian farming and housework attributes. 60km away from Vilnius you will find yourself in the country in it’s natural pristine condition.
Day3: Review
Here are some backstage images from this project. Big thanks to those who participated and contributed to this workshop. It was a tremendous fun and hopefully educating to some of us:)
See you all next year!
